Physiotherapy is the treatment of pain and injury using physical techniques such as soft tissue release, mobilisation and exercise therapy. A physiotherapist is a qualified therapist that performs these techniques to improve movement, reduce pain and stiffness, speed up the healing process and increase quality of life.

At FlexiFit Physiotherapy, you will always be greeted with a warm, friendly welcome by our staff! Our first consultation will include:

  • History of your problem/ condition
  • Review any scans/ investigations and previous exercises given
  • Assessment and diagnosis of your problem
  • Appropriate treatment will be given, and some home exercises will be prescribed.

Any scans, relevant doctors’ letters or paperwork from insurance and any previous exercise sheets/ programs.

Please wear any clothes that you feel comfortable in. If we are assessing/ treating certain areas that are hard to access (for example your hip), you may be asked to remove tight fitted clothes and will be draped appropriately with a towel.

Follow up appointments will include any review or revision of previous exercises, reassessment of your problem area, and further treatment and exercises based on your progress

We will provide you with one-on-one hands- on manipulative physiotherapy for the length of your consultation. In addition to this, we may provide you with education, advice, specific exercises and potentially electrotherapy or taping if required.

Our initial consultations are 1 hour (60 mins). Our follow up appointments are 30 mins. However, if you have a complex injury or wish to work on multiple areas, we do offer extended subsequent consultations which are 60 minutes duration.

The number of sessions will be dependent on your injury/ condition. Please be guided by the advice of our expert physiotherapists.
Manipulative physiotherapy at times may be uncomfortable and tender especially when areas that are problematic are poked and prodded! Throughout the session as these problematic areas become more relaxed, the discomfort will begin to ease! Post treatment tenderness may also be evident for a few days after treatment, especially your first few sessions. Again, this tenderness gets better overtime. Chronic stiffness or acute injuries may be more sensitive than other conditions or injuries. If you ever have any concerns, please communicate this with your physiotherapist.
We understand that life throws obstacles in our path from time to time. However, if you wish to cancel an appointment, we require 24 hours’ notice otherwise you will be charged a fee. No shows due to simply forgetting an appointment will also be charged a fee as an appointment unattended is a time another patient could have utilised.

You do not require a referral in order to make an appointment with us! However, if you are receiving treatment through worker’s compensation, department of Veteran’s affair, EPC or through motor vehicle accident, you will need a referral from your doctor and the appropriate documentation to support your claim.

You will often be able to make an appointment within a few days of contacting us. In the case of “emergency” appointments, we will do our best to fit you in as soon as possible.

We treat a wide variety of conditions including:

  • Neck and back pain
  • Hip/ knee/ ankle/ foot pain
  • Shoulder/ elbow/ wrist and hand pain
  • Pre and post op rehabilitation
  • Headaches and concussions
  • Sporting injuries
  • Pelvic floor dysfunction
  • Muscle tears/ sprains

We will always provide you with exercises and stretches you can do at home to assist your recovery. We are happy to take videos or pictures of your exercises to help or write down any relevant key points you need to remember.

We believe our clinic offers you quality treatment that is worth your time and money! We understand your condition and how it impacts your life. Our manipulative hands- on approach sets us aside from many other clinics which can allow you see results sooner rather than later!

Physiotherapy will NOT be covered by Medicare unless you have been referred by your doctor for an Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) plan which allows 5 SUBSIDISED physiotherapy sessions per calendar year.

Every health fund covers physiotherapy for people who have “extras” cover. The amount your health fund will rebate you is dependent on your fund and type of cover you have. Please contact your health insurer for further details.

Being mums ourselves, of course small children are welcome so don’t stress! We have plenty of exciting things to keep the kids occupied while you are in with the physiotherapist. However, we also understand that for a lot of mums 30 minutes of alone time without distraction is preferred and pure bliss!

Yes, you can! We regularly treat pregnant women who may be experiencing increased pain due to hormonal changes and increased pressure on their backs. Depending on how far along you are in your pregnancy, we may modify treatment positions for your comfort and safety e.g. side lying instead of lying on your back.
