I’ve been seeing both Tess & Georgia for the last 12+ months and they’ve been nothing short of miracle workers! Not only is the appointment process seamless and always easy - the quality of service and care delivered is consistently at such a high level, and you’re made to feel comfortable straight away, both from their expertise and calm approach. They’ve helped me with back, arm and wrist pain management from being in a long term desk role, to now prenatal Physio and care around keeping my body strong and ready for what’s ahead. Thank you ladies, I appreciate all the work you continue to do and this is such a valuable clinic to have in our community!

I’d never really used a physio consistently before, but it’s now a key part of my routine to maintain my body and correct the bad habits and posture that life inevitably creates. Georgia and Tessa have been fantastic, highly knowledgeable, genuinely caring, and clearly passionate about what they do. They’re a real staple in the community and it’s easy to see why they’re so well known, respected, and loved. Highly recommend.

Have been seeing Georgia from flexifit for around one year after being referred by my partner. Came in with bad neck pain on my right side after 1-2 years of remedial massages trying to fix but Georgia quickly diagnosed an issue with my shoulder causing the strain/pain . I am now pain free in my neck and mobility has improved drastically. I have also recently torn my left meniscus and Georgia has gone above and beyond getting me back to normal after surgery . Couldn’t recommend enough phenomenal service .

Georgia is a legend. I’ve had over a decade of various practitioners after a neck injury in childhood, unfortunately made worse by a chiropractic adjustment in 2021. The nerve pain that followed set up a vicious cycle of progressive weakening, regular flares, vertigo & despair..until I found Georgia. Together with her guidance, amazing hands on care & reformer Pilates I am finally managing my pain and now have the luxury of working towards gaining in strength and fitness. Thank you Georgia! ❤️🙏

How to Tell if You Need Physio or Rest

When Should You See a Sports Physiotherapist?

Whether you’re an athlete, a weekend warrior or just trying to stay active, knowing when to see a sports physiotherapist can keep you moving and performing at your best. These specialists don’t just treat injuries—they help prevent them, improve mobility and optimise recovery. But when should you see a sports physiotherapist?

See a sports physiotherapist if you’re dealing with pain, stiffness or mobility issues, recovering from a sports injury or looking to enhance performance and prevent future injuries. Early treatment can stop minor problems from turning into bigger setbacks.

Signs It’s Time to See a Sports Physiotherapist

Ignoring pain or discomfort can lead to bigger problems down the road. A sports physiotherapist can help you recover faster, move better and prevent injuries before they happen. If you’re unsure whether it’s time to book a session, watch out for these key signs:

1. Persistent or Recurring Pain

If you have ongoing pain that isn’t improving with rest or self-care, a physiotherapist can assess the root cause and develop a tailored treatment plan. Ignoring pain may lead to chronic issues that can affect your performance and daily life.

2. Post-Injury Recovery

Suffered a sprain, strain or muscle tear? Sports physiotherapy helps speed up recovery, rebuild strength and prevent further complications. Even minor injuries can have long-term consequences if not treated properly.

3. Limited Mobility or Stiffness

Feeling tight, stiff or restricted in movement? A physiotherapist can identify mobility limitations, correct muscle imbalances and restore your range of motion to prevent injuries and improve flexibility.

4. Reduced Athletic Performance

If you’re not performing at your usual level despite training hard, your body may not be functioning optimally. Sports physiotherapy helps enhance strength, endurance and biomechanics, ensuring peak performance.

5. Recurrent Injuries

Frequent injuries indicate underlying weaknesses or improper movement patterns. A sports physiotherapist can pinpoint these issues and implement corrective exercises to keep you injury-free.

6. Pre-Season or Post-Season Check-Up

Before starting a new training program or after completing a competitive season, a physiotherapy check-up helps identify weaknesses, prevent injuries and create a personalised recovery plan.

7. Surgery Rehabilitation

Recovering from orthopaedic surgery? Post-operative physiotherapy is essential for rebuilding strength, improving mobility and ensuring a smooth recovery process.

8. Managing Chronic Conditions

Conditions like arthritis, tendonitis or joint instability can benefit from physiotherapy by reducing pain, improving movement and preventing flare-ups.

How Can a Sports Physiotherapist Help?

Sports physiotherapy goes beyond injury treatment. Whether you’re recovering, training or preventing future issues, here’s how a physiotherapist can support your goals:

Injury Prevention

A proactive approach to physiotherapy helps identify risk factors and correct muscle imbalances before injuries occur. A tailored strength and conditioning program can keep you in top shape.

Pain Management

Techniques, such as manual therapy, dry needling and myofascial release, can alleviate pain and promote faster recovery without relying on painkillers.

Rehabilitation and Recovery

Sports physiotherapists create structured rehabilitation programs to help you recover from injuries safely and efficiently, minimising downtime and reducing the risk of re-injury.

Performance Enhancement

By improving muscle function, flexibility and biomechanics, physiotherapy can take your athletic performance to the next level and make you stronger, faster and more resilient.

Posture and Movement Correction

Poor posture and faulty movement patterns can lead to pain and injuries. A physiotherapist can assess and correct your posture and movement mechanics to ensure optimal function.

Taping and Bracing

Sports physiotherapists use taping and bracing techniques to provide joint support, aid in recovery and enhance stability during activity.

What to Expect During a Sports Physiotherapy Session

If it’s your first time seeing a sports physiotherapist, you might not know what to expect. Each session is tailored to your needs, but the process generally follows a few key steps. Below is what happens during a typical appointment:

1. Initial Assessment

Your physiotherapist will evaluate your medical history, movement patterns, muscle strength and joint flexibility to identify any underlying issues.

2. Personalised Treatment Plan

A tailored approach may include hands-on therapy, exercise programs, stretching routines and recovery techniques suited to your specific needs.

3. Hands-On Treatment

This can include joint mobilisations, deep tissue massage, dry needling or other therapeutic techniques to address pain and dysfunction.

4. Rehabilitation Exercises

You’ll receive targeted exercises to strengthen weak muscles, improve flexibility and enhance coordination for injury prevention.

5. Education and Prevention Strategies

Your physiotherapist will provide guidance on proper warm-ups, stretching and training modifications to keep you injury-free.
